playin' catch up...

first things first, happy father's day to all the dad's out there! i hope it's a wonderful day for everyone! we're going to be celebrating later since our daddy is gone today:(

my oh my do i have A LOT of catching up to do? if feels like it has been forever since i've posted:) we've been so busy though, and i don't think it's going to slow down for a while. where do i start... i think i last left with me burning things:) well, you'll be happy to know that i ended up not making a cake after all. i had all the stuff and was fully prepared to do it and then, well, i. was. tired. i know it's horrible but the weekend was SO full and by the time sunday morning rolled around there was no way it was getting done. i kind of feel bad she didn't have cake on her birthday but she did have a cutely decorated pancake with blueberries, strawberries, whipped cream and sprinkles with a candle on top. she wasn't too interested in that as you'll see from the video and i don't think she would have been very interested in the cake either so i feel a little better, right? (this is where you say, oh yeah don't worry about it, no big deal-so i don't feel like the worst mother on the planet:) ok?

anyway, we left super late thursday evening because we had a lot to get done around the house, like mowing, before we could leave. i don't think we rolled in until around 1 in the morning. i'm surprised we made it at all. i have decided i absolutely hate traveling with kids in car seats! you would think, hey it's like your bedtime so you should be asleep the whole way right? apparently allie didn't get that memo, she got the "scream until you are red in the face and then do it some more" memo. you know being with the girls a lot i've learned to kind of tune it out but brandon, bless his heart (love you sweetie) doesn't quite know how to tune it out as well, so we just got the other one all riled up! but rest assured we made it and the nasty storm blew over, the ride back was better.

friday was allie's birthday!! one year old, where did the time go? we had decided that since we had so much to do for the wedding we were having her party on sunday morning, but i did dress her up in her tutu and birthday girl shirt! she was so stinkin' cute!

so friday morning we started with the decorating and preparing for the rehearsal dinner at brandon's parent's house. linda, with the help of her sister and mom prepared a delicious prime rib dinner and i took on the decorating. it works so well that way:) i tend to burn things and well, linda just doesn't decorate:) love you!! brandon and madison were both in the wedding so we went to the rehearsal before the dinner. madison was one of the flower girls and a very cute one at that! we were so nervous she wasn't going to want to do it given how she acted at the rehearsal but come wedding day she was fabulous. threw those roses like she was born to do it. when she came to the pew to sit down she told me "i'm not afraid anymore!" oh she's so cute sometimes! i was so nervous about allie and how she was going to act during the wedding but other than sippy cups and snack canisters hitting the concrete floor through the entire wedding it was good! i chalk that up as a success. madison loved dancing at the reception, she and allie chased balloons until they all popped, then allie ended up crashing and we just put her in a playpen that our cousins had brought next to the tables and kept on dancing!

sunday morning was allie's party and it was such a good turnout!! lots of little ones to help unwrap presents since you know how most one year olds are about that:) we had a pancake breakfast with bacon, sausage, coffee, juice and lots of delicious fruit. again, i did the decorating and linda cooked, with the help of uncle doug who made the best sour dough pancakes:) thanks guys! allie got a ton of wonderful gifts, thank you everyone!

then.... we all packed up and went to hudson to have a surprise birthday party for grandpa treese. his birthday was the end of may but with everyone being in town for the wedding we thought this would be a great time to celebrate. it turned out so well. a lot of people were able to make it and he was surprised! we had hamburger, hot dogs, wings, and all the fixings along with cake! i think it was a success. happy birthday grandpa treese!

a couple of other things i thought i would share with you, since i'm obviously writing a book here:) i think we can say madison is officially potty trained! she doesn't even wear pullups at night. i can't believe how it just happened but we. are. so. happy! i think the poor girl sensed she was on the verge of death:) just kidding, but really. since she's being so funny these days, here's a couple of stories...

we're driving home from the rehearsal and it sounded like madison was starting to throw a fit so brandon said "madison are you throwing a fit?" her response.... "no, not yet!"

allie had a doctor's appointment the other day. madison had her sippy cup with her the whole time. when we were done i was just about to load her into the truck when i noticed she didn't have her cup with her so i asked if she left it in the office and she very sadly, with the shrug of her shoulders replied "yeah, i lost my sippy cup, it's lost" i told her it wasn't lost and we went back in the office to get it. as we were coming back from getting it we passed the nurse's station when she said "i lost my sippy cup... that's a bad day!" the entire office started laughing:)

i've been working on a lot of projects around the house and i'm SO excited to show them to you but i'll have to finish that tonight! be sure to check back:)

okay, so i created a few slide shows instead of posting all of the pictures individually, hope you enjoy them!

i will call that a successful party....

happy birthday to allie!
