i got shellaced...

...and i love it!! i used to have my nails done a long time ago and loved the way they looked but hated the maintenance and the financial end of it. it was so hard on my nails too. so i heard about the new shellac that has hit the market from a friend and decided to give it a try. i'm so glad i did. it's incredible and perfect for a mom like me. i'm really not trying to sell you on it i promise:) just telling you how much i like it! the best things about it... it last for 3 weeks or so (depending on how you take care of your hands), it was only $35, and the best part-i had an hour and a half to myself!!!! i think this is something i see myself continuing. i'll have nice nails and my sanity:)

i have a ton of pictures to post from the last couple of weeks but i've been extremely busy with all sorts of stuff, weddings, birthdays, tornadoes. those dang things seem to follow me all over the freaking country. we're all okay but it got pretty scary last night. the sirens went off, our patio furniture was blown around, basketball hoop turned over. we spent a good portion of the evening in the basement. one touched down in laurel but ended up missing billings thank goodness! everything seems to always hit at once you know? or is that just me? anyway, i'll leave you with this. it's my funny story. i know you all probably already think i'm off my rocker and totally incapable of leaving the house with my kids without the world falling apart, so here it goes...

we went to town the other day (i know.. another one of those stories) anyway, we were getting in the truck ready to leave my fav store ever (hobby lobby) and madison started throwing a little fit about wanting to go home. let me just say this much so you're in the loop. madison has had a cold for the past several days and sounds just like she does too, so back to the story. i felt so bad for her because she is sick that i tried talking to her really nicely about how we just needed to make a couple more quick stops and then we could go home. well, she wasn't listening to one word so finally i raised my voice (some might call this yelling) and told her she needed to be quiet and listen to me and quit with the fit. well of course she starts crying because i yelled at her and i felt so bad. so as we are driving down the road i said "madison, i love you" she replies in the most sickly little voice ever "i love you to mom, but i don't like it when you talk backwards to me." i laughed out loud so hard (she didn't appreciate that)! it was just one of those moments you know. i just thought i would share it with you:)

we are coming up quickly on allie's birthday on friday. i've been busy getting stuff ready for her party, wrapping presents and burning cakes. that's a whole other story. i purposely bought additional cake stuff to "practice" with before i made the real cake on her birthday. it's a good thing i did too. now i have to clean my oven... awesome. i will be the first to tell you cooking is not my thing. i will somehow manage to burn/overflow a simple cake out of a box. at least i'm honest:)

well, i'm off to bed. at least i'm going to try, knowing me it will be 2:00am before i finally get there.....
