First of all, I'm so sorry for the delay in posts. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's so different with two. I don't know how people with more than two do it? I applaud you! I'm still trying to get into some sort of routine and it's so hard. Just leaving the house is a HUGE ordeal for me and the girls... get us up, dressed, fed, changed, fed, packed with the entire house just in case one of us has some sort of accident, snacks, milk, fed, changed, etc. I swanee it takes me two hours just to make it out the door and by then I've got just a little bit of a window to run errands and be back before Madison needs a nap or Allie needs to be fed. I make sure I do all of my running around at once so I don't have to do it everyday. I guess I'm thankful for the luxury of being able to stay home with the girls, that certainly helps. I know we'll get the hang of it eventually I'm just whining for now, I get to do that but only for a little while longer then I need to have figured it out right?
Okay, now that I'm done whining... Allie is growing up so quickly. You know they say it goes fast and you would think we would remember it because of Madison but I think it's going even quicker with two. Is that possible? Allie will be a month old on the 10th. She had her checkup today and is 8 pounds 7 ounces, 21 inches long. She's in the 30th percentile for her weight and 50% percentile in height. The doctor says she's doing great and is very healthy. She's sleeping really well for me. I feed her for the last time at night around 10:00 and she sleeps until around 4:30 or 5:00 pretty consistently. She tends to be awake in the morning and then sleeps quite a bit (except for when she's hungry) the rest of the day. She's becoming more and more alert and you can tell she's really seeing us now. Her eyes are focusing on us now instead of giving us the newborn stare. It's really interesting how different Madison and Allie are at this point. Allie is so much darker in complexion and so long compared to Madison.
Madison is a great big sister. She loves her baby Allie. While we were running errands today I looked back and Madison was holding Allie's hand while she slept in the car seat. It was SO ADORABLE!! We hit a bump and Madison looked at Allie and said "Ooh big bump baby Allie". Priceless. I've decided though that Madison is just going to go #2 in her pants forever, I don' t think we'll ever get her to go #2 in the potty. I'm so frustrated, any advice from you experienced moms? I'll take it all. Recently Madison discovered 1) she can go cross eyed and every now and then will yell for mama or daddy and go cross eyed it's quite funny actually, and 2) she doesn't want to sleep in her room through the night. She'll wake up in the middle of the night and either lay outside our door, come in our room and sleep under or next to our bed, or the latest was the couch. Brandon went to check on her during the night and found her on the couch with her blanket so he moved her back to her bed then when he went to leave for work a few hours later and found her back out on the couch this time without her blanket. We're not quite sure what is provoking this but I kind of hope it doesn't continue too much longer because she tends to wake up when Brandon leaves around 5:30 or 6:00 in the morning when she does this.
We laid low this 4th of July since we had a newborn on our hands. Saturday we went to the parade in downtown Greeley and Madison really loved it, especially the animals. After the parade we all crashed for several hours, it was great. Then Sunday Uncle Doug, Aunt Betty and Brandon's cousin Brenda and her daughter came down from Cheyenne and we (Brandon) cooked the most amazing ribs, baked potatoes, corn on the cob and edamame. It was delicious. We normally go watch the Country Club fireworks but it stormed really badly Sunday and the place we usually watch them from wouldn't allow us to park on their land. We think it was so we didn't ruin their land with it being so wet, but don't know for sure. So, since we didn't know that piece of information in enough time to plan to watch them somewhere else we missed them. It was so sad because we had Madison so excited to see them. We got to see a few around the house as we were leaving and she loved them. We were pretty bummed out about the whole thing but we've licked our wounds and we're healing.
Well, that's about all for now. I'm going to do my best to keep up with blogging and keeping y'all informed but it will probably take some time so hang with me. In the meantime I did FINALLY finish Allie's announcements (probably why the blog hasn't been updated in so long) so look for them in the mail.
