Ribbon Wreath

In my post of the little projects that I did I mentioned I wanted to make a ribbon wreath for the front door. Well, since I'm limited to very little these days being pregnant and all I finally got around to doing it. I was going to make a wreath that could be hung year round but that became a little difficult to find ribbon for. So, I decided to make a "summer wreath" which means I will probably have to make one for each season now:) That's okay though it really wasn't too bad (or expensive). Time consuming yes, but it's really pretty easy once you get the hang of it. The best part was between the massive sale at Michael's and the coupons I had the whole project was about $9. It doesn't get much better than that:)

Here's the process...

I purchased the 12 inch styrofoam wreath, 500 straight pins and 7 ribbon colors. To begin with I cut all the ribbon into 4 1/2 inch pieces.

Next, I fastened the ribbon with a straight pin.

My strategy was to place each ribbon color on completely so that everything was spaced evenly on the finished project before putting the next color on.

I did the same thing with each ribbon color until it was completely full and you couldn't see much of the styrofoam wreath. It's up to you how much you want it to be filled in but I ran out of ribbon and refused to go back to the store, however mine was pretty full with hardly any wreath showing thru. So simple:)

My "Summer wreath"!
